The Huff and Puff Sounds Conservatory of Fine Arts offers a wide range of services, from instrumental lessons to vocal training. In doing so, we aim to cultivate talent and creativity among the students at our conservatory. 

Please note: All courses may be adjusted according to age, experience, and private group lessons. 

Our Services

  • Identify notes on the keyboard and their corresponding names.

  • Read basic sheet music, including treble and bass clefs.

  • Play simple melodies with both hands.

  • Understand basic rhythms and note values.

  • Develop proper hand positioning and posture.

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of piano playing, including basic music theory, finger placement, and simple melodies. Students will develop foundational skills necessary for further piano study.

Beginning Piano

Advanced Beginning Piano

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of piano playing, including basic music theory, finger placement, and simple melodies. Students will develop foundational skills necessary for further piano study.

Learning Objectives

  • Play pieces incorporating both hands with greater independence.

  • Read and play pieces with a broader range of notes and rhythms.

  • Develop a better sense of dynamics, articulation, and expression.

  • Learn basic chord progressions and simple harmonization.

  • Strengthen finger dexterity through technical exercises.

Intermediate Piano

Learning Objectives

Students at this level will refine their technique, expand their repertoire, and explore more advanced musical concepts, including scales, chord inversions, and expressive playing.

  • Play more complex pieces with dynamic contrast and phrasing.

  • Master major and minor scales and simple arpeggios.

  • Improve hand coordination and finger dexterity.

  • Learn how to accompany melodies with chords.

  • Develop sight-reading and improvisation skills.

Beginning Vocals

This class introduces students to proper vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, and vocal health. Students will develop confidence in their singing ability while learning simple songs.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and practice proper breathing techniques for singing.

  • Develop pitch-matching skills and vocal control.

  • Learn basic vocal warm-ups and exercises.

  • Sing simple melodies with clear diction and tone.

  • Build confidence in performing in front of an audience

Advanced Beginner Vocals

This class expands on the fundamentals, focusing on vocal agility, tone development, and more expressive singing. Students will work on harmonization, phrasing, and expanding their vocal range.

Learning Objectives

  • Strengthen vocal range and improve tone quality.

  • Sing with dynamics, phrasing, and expressive interpretation.

  • Learn harmony singing and blending with other voices.

  • Develop stage presence and performance confidence.

  • Improve diction and articulation for clearer vocal delivery.

Multilevel Violin and Viola

This is a multilevel string class incorporating the Suzuki Method, organized by level and reflecting Suzuki’s core principles (such as listening, repetition, parental involvement, and development of tone and posture).

General Course Objectives

  • Demonstrate foundational and level-appropriate technique on a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass).

  • Apply listening and memorization skills in learning music, in line with the Suzuki method.

  • Exhibit appropriate playing posture and instrument care.

  • Perform solo and ensemble pieces with correct rhythm, pitch, and musical expression.

  • Engage in collaborative music-making with peers of varying levels.

Levels:

  • Beginner (Suzuki Books 1-2)

  • Intermediate (Suzuki Books 3-4)

  • Advanced (Suzuki Books 5-)

Guitar Fundamentals

This beginner-to-intermediate level guitar class provides students with a solid foundation in guitar technique and music literacy using the renowned Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method. Students will learn to read standard notation (not tablature), develop proper finger positioning, and play a variety of melodies, chords, and simple solos. Emphasis is placed on building strong sight-reading skills, rhythmic accuracy, and musical expression. Instruction includes both group and individual work, with gradual progression through the Mel Bay series, starting with Book 1.

General Course Objectives

  • Understand and apply basic music theory and guitar-specific notation.

  • Play in the first position using proper technique and posture.

  • Read and perform single-line melodies using standard notation.

  • Develop a repertoire of traditional, folk, and classical guitar pieces.

  • Perform major and minor open chords to accompany simple songs.

  • Gain confidence playing solo and in small group ensembles.
